Everyone Matters: Dignity and Safety for Transgender and Transsexual People

The Trans Group Blog posted a great documentary made by GLAD (Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders) exploring trans issues in the workplace.

So many of us are leading lives seamlessly among our brothers and sisters who have not had to go through transition ....we are coworkers, friends, and all is good. But, I worry. I worry what will happen to me if I am in an accident, and need life saving care, or surgery.
My partner will be there if at all possible, to watch over me, but I worry. What if my parts are so closely scrutinized that they discover I display certain incongruities? I've seen first hand what people are capable of, before I looked like everyone else.

I shouldn't have to worry that someone might let me die, but I do.

I am deeply moved by your story. No person should have to fear neglect or abuse from the medical community. Thank you so much for visiting and sharing with The Colonic.
