natural selection, adaptability, and assholes: a follow-up

A few posts ago, I asked why natural selection has not weeded out warrantless assholes. In search of an answer beyond my own conjecture, I consulted an expert in the field who teaches at the University of Southern California.

Turns out, there is no known adaptable purpose for being mean without merit--but as long as the reputation costs are not too high, a person can engage in d-bagery freely.

Hahah indeed... and girls seem to be drawn to such "d-baggery" as well. Of course, there are limits to how far one can go, and the art is to recognize such limits(case by case) and adhere. In actuality, I'd say it's a gripping choreography of being a jerk and gentleman that works best. Nice guys finish last. You know that.

It is not true that nice guys finish last.

If you are nice and you are finishing last, you are not targeting the right type of people to date.
